• Congratulations! to GM Alex Moiseyev from Dublin, OH who dominated the tournament and wins the 2012 Ohio State Open, and his tenth straight Ohio State Championship title.

• Before and After Ratings are the results of a player's rating before this tournament and after it was recalculated from this score-sheet by ACF rating processor, Joe Moore.

• Mark Sokolovsky wins 2 points in his 3rd round from Richard Beckwith from a time forfeit, they drew their 1st game.

• John Acker withdrawing in the 5th round due to illness so a 3 point byes was awarded to his opponents in this round-robin tournament.

• Reported on forum, "Richard Beckwith, and surprisingly so, had a terrible tournament by losing a game to John Acker, a time forfeit to Mark, and an endgame blunder vs. Alan."

• Alex Moiseyev stated his performance in Medina 2012: 9 wins, 3 draws. According my updated rating, no points added or lost - just average, anticipated outcome and nothing significant. In order to improve rating I had to win 10 or more games out of 12.

• ACF Rating Processor, Joe Moore stated, "It is hard to gain points in the rating system when the competition you play is 200 to 600 below you, but that is not the systems fault, that is a case of no separate classes due to lack of players at Ohio State."

• This magic formula doesn't help a player like Joe LoConti who is willing to play in a tournament which he is out classed in a field of  players by at least 362 average points and his only closest opponent is 145 points higher so he isn't expected to win any games but he stills loses 42 points.  We need to tweak the formula or non-rate this tourney for LoConti or any player like him, he shouldn't lose points for participating in a tourney like this.  Until we have enough players to fill a bracket of players within 50 points + or - LoConti's rating, as the chess system we are using is tailored to do, these players will suffer.
• The system is set up so you have to win over 75% of your games to increase your rating as Alex stated he must win 75% or 10.5 of his 14 games which he didn't do, excluding the bye he needed 75% of 12 which is 9 games which he did, but no gain in rating?  Because he is expected to perform as winning 75% of this field, he out classes his highest opponent by 146 points.  He gets no increase as he performed as expected for his rating.
